The stories we don’t tell
When you visit a woman who just had a baby in the hospital, she would either be smiling or looking depleted with a slight expression of excitement and relief. Now, what you wouldn’t know is the long hours of unimaginable pain and agony she experienced in the labour room.
Same can be said about successful people, when they call you for house warming parties, car dedication ceremonies, ten years in business anniversaries and all sorts of celebrations.
They would smile and say words like “it wasn’t easy” “thanks be to God Almighty” “God is good” but you have to be close to them to hear the breakdown of all they truly passed through.
If they sit you down and tell you the heart-breaking disappointment they encountered, the near success events, and the unthinkable horrors they had to go through. If you hear the stories of how close they came to giving up, how close they came to breaking down and how often they cried in the bathroom, my dear, your jaw will drop a thousand times.
The point is, there are no costless battles, it’s never easy but you alone have to decide what its worth to you.
You can get anything you want in this life if you are willing to give everything up for it. That’s just it.
Let me just quickly ask, what have you sacrificed for that thing you so dearly desire? Is it your sleep? Or food? Or is it your comfort? Have you had to expand your associations? Do you now read a lot and research to gain more understanding?
What have you done? What have you given up? Are you all in? Or are you sitting on the fence? Don’t forget, winners are never found on the fences.
As you read through these pages, think about it, and ask yourself these vital questions. You can’t get what you want if you are not willing to give what you have.
If it’s truly that important then change strategies today, do something new, begin to consider your ways and realise what you are doing wrong.
Your dreams aren’t just going to jump out of your subconscious mind into the light, you have to introduce it to the world, come and show it to us.
Let it live through the day with you, and go to bed with it. Let it be the air you breathe and the reason why you can’t sleep through the night.
Only associate with people who motivate you and push you to accomplish it, make sure that your friends knows how important it is to you and if they don’t get it, then, be rest assured that they aren’t the ones you need on this journey.
Pain is part of the process and if you are emotional like me, then tears will be involved too but no matter how much ugly tears you shed, don’t let that stop you. Push through. Go in the corner and cry but don’t stay there, come back out and do what you couldn’t before.
This is what I tell myself. “I’ll get there; it’s only a matter of time. If I pray, work and believe. Then it would surely happen…”
