REGRET PT 1
I was just on twitter yesterday and I saw this tweet my Joel Osteen he wrote “remove regret. Get rid of the guilt. You can’t do anything about the past, but you can do something about right now”
This motivated me so much because I was once at that place in my life where the past took charge of my life. The past was on the driver’s seat of my life and my present was losing the fight even before it began.
We give our past so much power over our present, we allow it rule and then ruin our future. But then, you have to understand, mistakes happen to give us a lesson to learn from.
If you still cry about your mistakes today, then you are making another mistake to cry about tomorrow.
Last week, I wrote about the aftermaths of the Ponzi scheme “MMM” and sadly, there are some who are still crying over that. They are still regretting their involvement in it and still allowing it weigh them down.
I understand, we should know better, we make mistakes that in light of current information we now realize but the deed has been done and to undo it, you have to face it head on.
Accept it, you made a mistake and because you have recognized it, tomorrow, you would be more careful but then, don’t hinge on that previous mistake to be less active today.
Don’t live in fear of the future. To keep from making mistakes today, you have to “remove regret” like Joel Osteen said.
Do you think it’s easy? Do you think he doesn’t understand that “removing regret” could be difficult? But I’m sure he also understand that to grow you have to “remove regret”
Why? Because regret stands as an hindrance to future success. It kills progress because when opportunities come, the remembrance of the past mistakes would hold your legs and prevent you from taking steps.
Now, I am not telling you to go involve yourself in yet another Ponzi Scheme or repeat that mistakes. It’s only fools that does same things and expect different results.
But then, there are some legitimate investments that goes sour and because of that, you start to act scared.
Learn lessons from those mistakes, get more information before you act, weigh your information and don’t act based on that regret.
The mind is a very tricky place, and sometimes even when you believe that you have overcomed that fear, that regret, it could still appear in times when you are about to make a defining decision.
Remove regret and the future would not be the past…
