DETHRONEMENT OF FEAR
Fear is a torment; you got to have heard that before. Okay, fine, fear is not good. Yea, but that’s not motivating enough. Alright! How best can I say it? How best should I put it that will push you to kick fear out the door?
You are scared, so you can’t sleep in the dark, that’s not so bad, but then you are scared so you can’t start a new business, well, that’s just wrong on all levels.
You hear of a new idea that’s really great and everyone is raving about it but you are dragging your feet about it because you are scared like a little girl/boy.
Now, you don’t need me to tell you not to let fear rule your life, you don’t need me to inform you about how dangerous the spirit of fear is or about how it can set you on a downward spiral.
Before you start thinking that scepticism is same thing as fear, let me quickly stop you there; there is a huge difference between being sceptical and being gripped with fear. When you are sceptical, you look at things carefully, you take cautious steps but when you are scared, you come to an abrupt halt.
Scepticism is a good thing but it’s also the cousin of fear, instead of fear, find courage, for courage is the brother of faith. Expel fear out of your mind because it’s the destroyer; get out of its snare before it swallows your future.
For a lot of persons, when they have the opportunity to start something new, they open the door to fear to come in and discourage them, they fill their minds with all the negative thoughts.
“What if it doesn’t work? What if I lose my money in that investment? What if they are lying?” and by the time you are done with all the “what if’s” you have missed that window of opportunity simply because you couldn’t welcome in the brother of faith which is courage.
You see two brothers; one is always careful to do the right thing while the other just goes with it, never too scared to act. Somehow the brother, who is like the wind, seems more successful while the brother who sits in fear and calls it cautiousness lives a mediocre life.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s okay to be cautious, but life has no guarantee, you are never going to be a hundred percent sure. That step you are about to take, that move you are scared of making, my dear, you will never be a hundred percent certain and even if you are, it may still crumble like a house built of cards.
There is no such thing as “certainty”. If you always want to be accurate then you might as well stay in same spot.
We are only humans so don’t be too scared to make a mistake. Pray that even if you make a wrong move, God should keep you alive and also give you the grace to correct them.
Tomorrow is another day; and sometimes, failure is really just an experience, a proof that you are a step closer and, next time you will do better but first, you have to act now.
You might fail, you might fall and my dear, you might not win today but if you moved and you fell then you are better off than if you didn’t. Tomorrow is going to be better…
